Founded in 2016, Home Group Ltd (Home Group of Companies) was created with a clear purpose: to bring multiple specialist sub-trades together under one roof.

In traditional construction, sub-trades often work in isolation.
This disconnect can lead to miscommunication, knowledge gaps, and issues that could have been avoided.
Builders and architects carry the responsibility of bringing everything together, yet they can’t be expected to know every detail across all trades.

That’s where we step in.
 
At Home Group, we believe sub-trades should provide practical solutions that prevent onsite challenges, minimise costly overruns, and eliminate the blame game.

Our mission is simple: to change the way the building process works — creating collaboration, reducing risk, and delivering better outcomes for everyone involved. 

Our Journey

Every business has a story — ours is one of resilience, reinvention, and a commitment to doing things right.
From the start, our vision was simple: bring together design, doors, and hardware under one roof, and deliver smarter, more reliable solutions to the construction industry. Along the way, we’ve faced challenges — some within our control, some not — but each shaped us into a company that values clarity, precision, and service above all else.
Our focus is solving one of the industry’s biggest problems: a lack of correct information.
Frames built to the wrong size. No allowance for flooring. Incorrect doors specified for compliance. Hardware schedules that don’t match project requirements. These mistakes cost time, money, and reputation.
At Homegroup, we don’t just supply — we check, confirm, and guide.
Our process is simple: Design → Confirm → Construct. Get it right first, then build with confidence.

Timeline

2016 –    Homegroup established.
2017–2018 – Designed a Pre-Hung Door System: component-based, space-saving, adaptable for nationwide supply
                        and trade merchant stores.
2019 –     Signed a nationwide supply agreement with a national merchant group (set to begin 2020).
Jan 2020 –     First rollout: 10 stores supplied.
Feb 2020 –    Covid-19 halts operations.
April 2020 –  Agreement cancelled as larger supplier takes over.
May–June 2020 –    Business restructures. Staff layoffs, Managing Director resigns and relocates to Hawke’s Bay.                                              Partner assumes role, later steps down.
July 2020 –     Original MD returns, relocates business in Auckland, continues as a single-person operation with
                          contractors. Hardware supply & install added.
Aug–Oct 2020 –        Auckland lockdown restricts access; all work subcontracted. Once restrictions ease, Homegroup
                                     resumes operations, supplying doors & hardware and hardware nationwide, including large-
                                     scale Kāinga Ora projects.
Jan 2023 –     Business relocates to Hawke’s Bay, lowering overheads.
Feb 2023 –    Cyclone Gabrielle damages local operations and disrupts supply chains. Door manufacturing
                        subcontracted — a system that becomes permanent.
                        Homegroup shifts focus to supply management and subcontracted installs.
March 2024 –  Door install service formally added alongside supply.
Sept 2025 –      New website launched.
Oct 2025 –        Launch of industry Q&A platform (coming soon).

Today & Beyond

We’ve rebuilt stronger, with a nationwide reach and a focus on getting it right first.
Our role is not just to supply, but to ensure the industry has the right information and the right products, the first time.
We’re here to help builders, architects, and developers move from:
